Why Go for Auschwitz Tours?

A visit to a World War II concentration and extermination camp can be a deeply emotional experience. The harrowing imagery featured in the exhibitions is certainly not for the faint of heart. So why would you want to go on a tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp?

1. Historical Understanding

Auschwitz is a symbol of the Holocaust, a horrific period in human history where millions of people, primarily Jews, were systematically exterminated by the Nazis. A tour of Auschwitz can provide a deep understanding of this historical event that books and documentaries may not fully convey.

2. Education

Visiting Auschwitz shows the absolute worst consequences of hate, discrimination, and intolerance. In a way, it’s meant to teach about the darkest parts of the human nature. However, you could also see it as a testament of the unbreakable human spirit. Heroes such as Witold Pilecki and Maximilian Kolbe are shining examples of resilience and sacrifice in name of greater good.

3. Remembrance

The tour is a form of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust. By visiting Auschwitz, you are acknowledging the atrocities committed and paying respect to the millions of lives lost.

4. Preservation of Testimony

Each visit helps to keep alive the memory and the testimonies of the survivors. It’s crucial to remember and learn from our past to prevent such horrors from happening again.

As early as 1945, the central authorities of Poland step to establish a museum on the area of the former Nazi Germany concentration camp Auschwitz. The various Auschwitz sub-camps were located at considerable distances, sometimes tens of kilometers, from the main camp. Ultimately, it was decided to place the 191-hectare site of the two main former camps under protection: Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

Auschwitz Facts

It’s widely accepted that around 800 prisoners attempted to escape from the Auschwitz complex during its operation. Of those, approximately 144 were successful. However, many of those who did escape were pursued and some were either killed or recaptured. The escapees used various means, including disguises, digging tunnels, and relying on the help of local civilians.

Our Customers reviews

“We had a group of six in a comfortable van. Our driver, Patrick took care of us. It was door-to-door service. The van had Wi-Fi if needed. We were handed off to the official guides at Auschwitz. Patrick coordinated the meeting points for our pickup and transfer to Birkenau and back to the hotel.”

“From pick up to drop off back at our apartment, everything went really smooth and we felt looked after. On our way to Auschwitz-Birkenau we were shown a documentary of the history of the camp, which already left us quiet. Needless to say the tour was uttermost impressive. Our driver/host was super friendly and relaxed, and this experience is definitely not to be missed. I strongly recommend you book through Krakow Direct. Also for your airport transfers which are cheaper than taking an Uber and wayyyyy more comfortable.
Thank you guys for everything, hope to see you again!”

“We missed the bus for the Auschwitz tour and they bent over backwards to try and get us on the camp next day (hard thing to do cause of ticket allocation). Also, the guide spoke great English and was very knowledgeable. Did the Salt Mines with them as well. Will be going back, so much more to see. Loved Krakow.”
